LEVEL 3 - #04 “BLACKWORK TECHNIQUE"
Student Kit contains: Easy instructions and diagrams, 25ct Evenweave Fabric, #24 Needle, and sufficient threads and embellishments to complete the design.
The technique of embellishing clothing and other fabric with Blackwork was popular in the 14th century, when black thread was stitched in intricate patterns on a white linen background. The stitch used to execute Blackwork is known as the Holbein Stitch or Double Running Stitch which both look the same on the back as on the front. Backstitching is not used for blackwork. Today it is quite common to see Blackwork in a variety of colors.
Design area: 39h x 40w (3.3” x 3.3”)
Cut fabric: 25ct Lugana 6" X 6"
