LEVEL 3 - #08 “ASSISI TECHNIQUE"
This technique comes from the town of Assisi in Northern Italy. It is a variation in the use of the basic Cross Stitch. First, the design is outlined using Backstitch or Holbein Stitching. Then, instead of filling the design area with Cross Stitches, the stitcher fills in the background area with a contrasting colour, leaving the design area free of stitches.
Design area: 39h x 40w (3.3” x 3.3”)
Cut fabric for models: 25ct or 28ct linen 6" X 6"
